Virtualization technology continues to be a priority among IT decision makers, according to a recent survey.
SHARE recently released a survey of more than 160 IT administrators to identify the 10 most important issues in the industry. While, not surprisingly, IT cost management was the top priority, virtualization was number two, revealing the recent trend to adopt the technology.
According to industry experts, the results of the survey show IT administrators are beginning to realize other important factors within their investments in addition to cost-savings.
"Cost management, especially when it comes to cost reduction and avoidance, continues to be top of mind for these companies," said Al Williams, president of SHARE. "It’s not enough to just cut costs – the successful enterprise IT professional knows there is a need to demonstrate IT’s value and how it can provide a competitive advantage every day."
Other notable issues highlighted in the survey involved the emergence of other trends in today’s information technology. Evolving technologies continue to grab the attention of IT executives, as enterprise security was ranked fourth, cloud computing was ranked seventh and data center energy management was the 10th most important issue in the industry.
